What is an Itero digital oral scanner?
An Itero digital intraoral scanner is a device that uses a camera to capture highly accurate digital images of your teeth. This then creates a digital model of your mouth.
What is it used for?
The Itero can be used for treatments such as: Invisalign, Crowns, Bridges, Dentures, Implants and Mouthguards. Anytime a traditional impressions would have been used, this can now be replaced with a digital scan instead.
Who is it suitable for?
The Itero is suitable for anyone, it is especially suited for those who have a sensitive gag reflex and find taking a traditional impressions very uncomfortable. The scan does not require any mould material be placed inside the mouth. This is also great for young kids.
What are the advantages of a scan vs a traditional impression?
A digital scan is much more accurate than a traditional impression, that means that we will get a more accurate fit for the appliance that we are making for you. It is also digitally sent to the labs that we work with so the turnover time is much quicker. It also acts as a great monitoring tool as we can save past scans and use them to track how your teeth move and change over time.
